I know all you players out there who competed in the 1337gear cup are right now in a state of WTF? or have simply quit UT. or stopped caring.

Today I saw Rastaman (the head of 1337gear) and it made me angry again... angry like i was when he told me he wasn't sponsoring anymore. No he didn't say this because the cup went downhill, the cup went downhill after he had said this. But i will explain.

Rastaman first came to me with ideas to run a cup, and to give prize money and I mean I've ran cups sucessfully before with(custom maps) and without(rocket arena) clanbase so I obviously jumped on the idea to bring spark back to UT.

Everything was fine, arranged, 1337gear would have adverts on the site, gamers would see the clothes and if they like them purchase them. I got some massive promotion for 1337gear getting their advert (which i made) and their url on the main page of esreality and truff website, also every gamer seeing their page advertised during the entire duration of the cup.

I set all this up and a few weeks pass... and Rastaman then sends me an email and simply says "we are no longer sponsoring" the reason? "you didnt give me enough input on the cup" At not one single point did rastaman make an atempt to suggest anything about the cup, nore did he show any interest in the running. Out of the blue he says this, obviously I email back trying deswade him, telling how bad it is for his company. He just ignores everything :/

At this point I'm very angry, and I feel like he's let down every UT player who joined the cup. But he doesn't care, he's got his advertising on the site, his advertising on other sites and now he's running for it without having to pay out anything. He ran away and ignored emails :/

The reason why I have left it until now to write this message is this... I wanted to cause as little negative impact to the scene as possible. If I announced there and then that the cup was closed and the prize money was gone... then lots and lots more people would have quit UT, and there would be uproar. If i said it's all rastamans fault it wouldnt have helped, it would have helped me but not the scene. The way it has worked out is good, a few players have dropped UT due to annoiance with the "poorly ran cup", but far less than if it was "prize money taken away" which they had trained for. People have forgot about the cup and gotten onto new things which is good also.

He made me among others just drop UT and I also lost all interest in running this website.

Until this point I have taken all the agro and all the disrespect for this.. also because my reputation does not cost money however 1337gears does. I've kept very quiet and stayed out of peoples way...

What I don't like is peoples disrespect towards me for trying to do something great for UT. With all big things there are risks and my mistake in this one was being too trusting. Yes the cup backfired but it COULD have been one of the best cups, and one of the biggest things for UT 1on1 in the past few years.

It was an ambition which I thought was truely awesome and you have to look at it as, atleast i took the chance and tried to make it happen. You people who have flamed me, and said things about me behind my back for making the cup crap are really low, but i know you didn't know the whole story, i was stupid to take the agro in order to protect a brand which betrayed me :/

Well, I'll see how things go. This may just bring up sore memories for some people about entering and training with ambition, only to be crushed. But you have to believe that my ambition was only for you people who did train... i made this cup for you guys and it was rastaman which betrayed us.

Rastaman says that there is more to his side of the story, but even pm'ing him and him replying to some questions, he wont tell me the story. Rastaman when you read this, please scroll down and click add comment, and please tell us your whole story so I/we can atleast understand why you done this.

If all is well maybe i'll get back into running #ut1 and this website and maybe later make a fun rocket arena cup or something :) but until then i'm gona stay laying low and staying out your way playing my games with maddx and khanage in zugzwang.
